Water Distribution and Treatment

Professional Engineering Consultants Corporation has been involved in over 50 water improvement design projects for communities all over the south. These projects ranged from distribution systems to elevated and ground storage tanks and their associated pumping requirements. Our firm is an infrastructure specialist, designing and bidding an average of 60 public works projects annually at almost 60 million dollars in construction costs. PEC is one of the State’s leading consultants in water system planning and design.

Our firm recognizes the uniqueness of a community water system environment. We have designed both surface water plants and ground water well systems to service a variety of communities. The expertise and experience of PEC’s design engineers allow our team to investigate existing system conditions and perform the associated design and construction of any new system components required; but most significantly, the design will be efficient and cost effective.

PEC routinely has in-house water distribution system, treatment plant, water well and storage tank design and construction projects as part of its ongoing work load. The majority of these projects require PEC’s total management from inception of the project, to field topographic surveying, to final design and ultimate construction administration.

Our overall experience includes planning, study preparation, design, bidding and construction supervision of the proposed water system improvements. Planning and evaluation studies include system feasibility, water rate structures and recommended operations and maintenance cost, and related procedures. Water supply design includes deep/shallow well construction, ground storage tanks, elevated water storage tanks and standpipes. Water pumping design includes pump sizing, hydro-pneumatic air systems and controls for on/off automatic operation. Water treatment design includes disinfection, chemical feed system development, pressure and gravity filtration, softener utilization and backwash water disposal. Water distribution system design entails Hydraulic Computer Modeling of the Water System (KYPIPE) and fire protection as well as flushing and valve placement considerations.
