PEC is committed to and focused on performing effective and efficient aviation consulting services for airport clients throughout the State. This focus has been and is part of the firm’s strategic plan to grow this project service area and continue to always improve our aviation expertise.  PEC’s aviation project team specializes in Airport Planning and Design with experience ranging from conceptual planning and land acquisition management to lighting, NAVAIDS, hangar, fencing, drainage and pavement design.  Our project managers have excellent working relationships with the LA DOTD and the FAA which expedites and enhances our clients potential project development in all area’s of a project’s implementation.

We have extensive design experience and a thorough knowledge of design procedures, approval methods, and the design steps that are required to complete a wide range of aviation projects. Our firm’s key personnel are extremely familiar with FAA guidelines and design criteria including as a minimum: AC150/5320-5B Airport drainage, LADOTD Hydraulics Manual, AC150/5300-13 Geometric standards, and AC150/5320-6D-Pavement design.

PEC utilizes accepted FAA software for quality assurance to check flexible pavement designs and relies on the expertise of the team’s geotechnical consultant to assist in establishing appropriate runway foundations.  PEC has exceptional expertise and a proven track record in providing cost effective runway/pavement rehabilitation designs. The firm emphasizes design economics in its development of a project from the drainage plan to runway rehabilitation and/or new construction.

Our broad foundation of understanding and developing Airport Layout Plans [ALP] and aviation needs facilitates preparation of a final design and constructed facility that meets the operational requirements of the Airports intended aircraft service.  Building on our experience in the transportation segment, PEC has become a leader in General Aviation Engineering having completed over 50 projects for 11 Airports over the past ten years.

A broad base of project experience has provided PEC with extensive design experience and a thorough knowledge of procedures, approval methods, and design steps, which are required to complete these types of projects. PEC has worked with the FAA on over 30 airport projects allowing us an intimate familiarity with their regulations, policies and procedures. PEC has an aviation related project continuously in-house that keeps our relationship with the FAA current and our staff up to date and efficient in aviation planning, design and FAA-related guideline information.

PEC has managed multi-disciplined efforts on numerous aviation projects. Typically the firm has coordinated and performed permitting, FAA Environmental Assessments, lighting and power requirements, communications, structural and architectural design for  hangars and warehousing, geotechnical services, and surveying functions to complete projects in a timely manner and within the proposed construction budgets.
