PEC was selected by the City/Parish’s Engineer Selection Board to  perform the project design and plan preparation for the widening of Bluebonnet Blvd. to a 4-lane and 5-lane urban section with curb and gutter and subsurface drainage for approximately 2.5 miles (Burbank Drive to Nicholson Drive).  The firm prepared preliminary and final plans  and Right of Way maps working with local subconsultants on this very high profile  much needed  road improvement in one of the Parish’s fastest growing areas.

Burbank Drive had been a two lane key access road for the southern area of the Parish. The significant increase in traffic literally overloading the capacity of this road system resulted in the need for a 4 lane road projected to meet future needs.  PEC was selected by the City Parish to perform this section of road improvements as the firm has extensive experience with major sewer line and utility relocation work in this area.   The design approach was to construct an additional two westbound lanes as a divided four lane highway.  PEC was responsible for the topographic survey,  intersection,  utility, drainage, and road design, plan preparation, and right-of-way maps for the 3.4 miles of  Burbank Drive Improvements.  The firm also assisted in coordinating the interests of the LDOTD and the City Parish in meeting the requirements of each of these agencies. The project was completed on schedule and at the estimated budget of construction costs.

Project Name:   Rehabilitation of Holiday Drive from General Meyer Ave. to General MacArthur Blvd.

PEC was retained to provide plans and specifications for the rehabilitation of Holiday Drive. Rehab consists of cold mill and overlay of the existing asphalt roadway pavement, curb replacement to facilitate proper drainage of the roadway, repair of the roadway base and sub-base as necessary, minor point repairs and storm drain cleaning and adjustments as required at driveways, intersecting streets and project termini.   The estimated 4000 feet of street improvements included complete ADA compliance and a bike lane for connectivity of two other major bike thoroughfares.

Throughout many years, PEC was retained to provide the design and construction administration for 9 phases of roadway rehabilitation for Pointe Coupee Parish. Projects consisted of patch and overlay, new road base, or total reconstruction of asphalt and gravel road for over 150 miles of roadway throughout the Parish.

Since 2001, PEC has provided design and construction of many phases of roadway rehabilitation programs for Washington Parish. These projects consisted of patch and overlay, new road base, or total reconstruction of asphalt and gravel road for over 200 miles of roadway throughout the Parish.

PEC has also worked with the Parish and the State Louisiana Community Development Block Grant program to provide several phases of rehabilitation of streets to low/moderate portions of the parish.

Project Name:   Rollins Road Extension

This road improvement was a very much needed roadway access to improve the connectivity of the City’s street system to projected areas of growth within the City’s corporate limits. PEC provided design and construction administration for a new 2-lane roadway which involved open-ditch drainage design. The project also consisted of utility relocation and obtaining permits for a railroad crossing. The project’s major design goal was to be constructed within the funds the City had available for this road improvement.

Project Name:   Ragley-Longvillle Route LA/US171
Project Location Beauregard Parish

PEC was selected by the LDOTD to perform preliminary and final design and plan preparation on approximately 5.47 miles of additional 2-lane rural highway and another 1.4 miles of 5-lane urban section.  The firm was responsible for all topographic surveying, highway geometrics, drainage and related drainage hydraulics, and intersection designs.  The urban roadway consisted of four 12” travel lanes and one 14” continuous turn lane with curb and gutter and subsurface drainage. The Firm also prepared a Transmittal 374 and report.
